The movie that changed my life
In the beginning of grade 12, I experienced many unexpected things. For instance, I got in a class that we were not going well together. Moreover, the program got heavier, and my scores was terrible compare to the previous years. I remember the feeling of burden putting on my shoulder, it was the last year of school, so I supposed to be happy, I supposed to get the best score. Sadly, I could not.
Nevertheless, I did not want to keep falling behind so I find a motivation, suddenly, I found the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” and it had changed my life.
In summary, the movie was based on a true story about a man name Chris Gardner – a failure salesman. His job was not favorable and it lead to dept piled up, his wife left and soon Chris with his son became homeless people. However, Chris had never thinking about giving up. By a chance, he knew that a stock company was recruitng. Chris started to learn about stock to get the position. Finally, after a long way of fight, he got the job and became success.
Why did it change my life?
His journey was a powerful motivation for me. I felt like there is someone who even deal with much more challenges than me, but he never give up, he always working passionately, so what is the reason for me to quit?
There are some scenes that I would never forget. Firstly, is the moment when Chris try to find out why the successful man so happy by asking him. This is the momment when chance first come to Chris. I realized that luck and opportunity are not randomly fall from the sky, you have to find it. Secondly, is when Chris and his son have to stay overnight in the subway’s toilet because Chris was broke. His son is sleeping very well and Chris was crying painfully. A man who is crying? We know how painful he had suffer. It appeased me that we can become weak sometimes, we can cry, but those tears must give us more strength, not make us weaker.
So why is “happyness”? That is the intention of the film maker, they try to tell that happy is not the same for everyone, that is why there is no exact word to describe that feeling. I realized that happy just not about being rich or having high status, just like Chris, he is not dreaming for villas and supercar, he only pursuit a very standard target – a place to sleep and a job. For him, that is “happyness”. And from then on, I begin to target what is really matter to me, only target the thing that I want from the bottom of my heart.
